Ears and a chair



As I mentioned previously, my friend Bruce Jones made me this wonderful chair:

So now I'm finishing up Santa #2, so he can sit in this chair.

Consider this a sculpting lesson for ears. Rough clay shapes to be attached to cured (hardened) head:

 One ear anchored to head and sculpted:



Ear is tinted with powder makeup and ready to bake.  You can't do both ears at the same time, because you'll squish the one you already finished:


After the head cooled, I started the second ear.  The trick is to try to get them to match, or at the very least, look like they belong to the same person:

and here Santa #2 has both ears!  Now he needs a neck and a body (and clothes, boots, and elves...argh.)
